Wille & The Bandits

Thursday 12th February

The Winchester
In what can be suggested is the headline slot on a battle of the bands evening at the Winchester, Wille & The Bandits claim more fans with their take on roots movement music.

In an industry devoid of any roots music (Jack Johnson a notable exception) Wille & The Bandits show what the public is missing.  Tracks including Little Miss Pretty illustrate their well honed skills.  Lead singer & guitarist Will demonstrates an excellent deep, gruff voice for the songs which adds brilliantly to the bluesy, roots sound.

Towards the end of the set they are able to showcase a harder edge which gets all within the small setting bobbing their heads in unison.  Hints of what Rage Against the Machine might sound like doing roots music came to the fore.

Following a rousing applause after the final song it was asked if the crowd wanted more and the loud response meant one more song before home time.  A fantastic rendition of Dire Straits - Money For Nothing meant newcomers to Wille & The Bandits were able to have a sing-a-long.

As mentioned, the band is fairly unique currently.  However, if the sets played are up to this standard, others will not only follow but Wille & The Bandits will have carved out a name for themselves as one of our top acts.
